Freeman Technology recently undertook a collaborative project with GEA Pharma Systems, a global provider of pharmaceutical processing solutions, to investigate the optimisation and control of continuous wet granulation. Wet granulation is routinely used in the pharmaceutical industry to prepare blends for tabletting. The new research reveals correlations between the dynamic powder properties of pre-tabletting wet granules and the critical quality attributes of final oral solid dosage tablets. These results illustrate how dynamic powder testing using the FT4 Powder Rheometer enables the streamlining of product development and can help ensure product control during continuous manufacturing procedures.
