West Pharmaceutical Services will demonstrate the company’s expertise in prefillable syringe systems and components during Pharmapack Europe. In addition to presenting a variety of products, West will participate in the Pharmapack educational programme with company experts presenting best practices for incorporating QbD principles and novel materials in drug packaging.
West’s experts will participate in two sessions at Pharmapack, as part of the 'Innovations in Parenteral Administration and Packaging Process' conference track:
• Trends in Parenteral Packaging and the Application of QbD Principles to Primary Packaging Development and Manufacturing (13 February, 2:25 p.m., S2.3) — Sascha Karhöfer, Director, Global Injectable Container Solutions Platform, West, will discuss how applying QbD principles to the development and manufacturing of container closure systems improves drug safety.
• Daikyo Crystal Zenith Prefillable Syringe System: New manufacturing process combines advantages of silicone-free and break-resistant packaging (13 February, 4:00 p.m., S2.6) — Dr. Nicolas Brandes, Manager Daikyo Crystal Zenith European Business Development, West, and Dr. Judith Maczek, Project Manager, Vetter, will discuss the advantages of the novel polymer material, Daikyo Crystal Zenith, over glass for prefillable syringes.
In addition to its educational sessions, West will showcase a range of the company’s drug packaging and delivery systems, including syringe plungers and stoppers processed by West’s Envision automated inspection technology, Westar Ready-to-Use (RU) steam-sterilised plungers for prefillable glass syringes, and its unique silicone-, glue- and tungsten-free Daikyo Crystal Zenith RU syringe system.
