A black-tie dinner has been arranged for UK business leaders — including big pharma CEOs — and the US president, Donald Trump, to be hosted by the prime minister, Theresa May, according to an article published in the Financial Times (FT).

Among those invited, as reported by the newspaper, are the CEO of Johnson & Johnson, Alex Gorsky, and the CEO of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Emma Walmsley.
The location of the event, set to take place next week during the president’s visit to the UK, has not been disclosed but based on the information from sources of the FT, it is expected to take place in Blenheim Palace.
At the beginning of the year, Trump sat down for dinner with 15 European executives, including the CEO of Bayer — Germany, Werner Baumann, and the CEO of Novartis — Switzerland, Vas Narasimhan. During that dinner there were discussions on deregulation policies in an effort to encourage trade relationships between Europe and the US.
It is anticipated that the UK-based dinner will be partly aimed at demonstrating the advantages of UK-US trade relations after Brexit, as reported by the FT.
Trump’s visit to the UK will be sandwiched between the annual Nato summit in Brussels and a one-on-one meeting with the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, set to take place in Finland.
There have also been numerous reports that mass protests are planned to take place at each stage of Trump’s UK visit, with a potentially 50,000 strong protest set to take place in London.
