Connected health and smart packaging solutions were recognised at the Pharmapack Awards with the winners announced today (7 February).

A total of nine awards were chosen across both the Exhibitor Innovations and Health Products categories.
The Exhibitor Innovations category saw six winners selected across three specialities: with Phillips-Medisize and Stevanato Group chosen in the ‘Best Innovation in Drug Delivery Device’ group.
Other winners in that group included Huhtamaki Flexible Packaging Germany and Stiplastics Healthcaring for ‘Best Innovation in Solid Dosage Packaging’, and Schott AG and Aptar Pharma for ‘Best Innovation in Packaging material & Component’.
Phillips-Medisize was awarded for its Connected Health Platform (CHP), which enables pharmaceutical companies to reduce risk, cost and time to market for connected devices.
Stevanato Group was awarded for its cartridge-based wearable device, which was designed to be a discreet alternative to pen-injectors.
Huhtamaki Flexible Packaging Germany was awarded for its Push Tab packaging material, which is designed as an alternative opening for strip packaging. The material used makes it easy to remove tabs by simply applying pressure without impacting barrier properties.
IQ-Dose by Stiplastics Healthcaring took home the second award for its easy-to-use device made for dosing and counting mini-tablets. This allows the administration of tiny doses, exactly adjusted to a patient’s needs, and is used in trial phases for paediatric medicine, as well as for specific treatments in Parkinson’s, oncology and psychiatry.
Also for packaging, Schott AG was chosen as a winner for its syriQ Buipure pre-fillable glass syringes – which are designed specifically for the biologics market, keeping sensitive drugs stable, easing administration and shortening time to market
Aptar Pharma’s QuickStart Injectables was awarded for the innovative way it delivers injectable development solutions to pharmaceutical customers.
In the Health Product category, three winners were recognised across both the ‘Patient Centric Design’ and ‘Eco-design Award’ categories.
Medical Brands was recognised for its Excilor 2-in-1 Wart treatment and the way it combines two technologies in a single device to provide faster treatment.
Sterile Cosmetics by RPC Bramlage was given the ‘Eco-design award’ for the way it comprises both a sterile dispenser and airless container, including bag in bottle technology, which allows the patient to dispense sterile cream, but without the use of preservatives.
UCB Pharma’s Cimzia 200mg/Vial Lyophilized Powder Pack was also awarded an ‘Eco-design award’ for integrating new and innovative packaging features focusing on package size, recyclability, sustainability and waste.
