The Northern Health Science Alliance (NHSA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the UK Israel Tech Hub (UKITH) aimed at bringing Israeli health and medical technology innovations to the North of England.

This joint-working arrangement will support Israeli companies looking to establish research and a presence within the UK — in particular in the North of England.
“We’re thrilled to be signing this memorandum of understanding with the UK Israel Tech Hub which will open up the North of England to innovative and cutting-edge Israeli health technology,” explained head of corporate affairs for the NHSA, Suzanne Ali-Hassan. “There are well over 1,400 life science and healthcare companies in Israel whose innovations have the potential to bring great benefits to the North’s hospitals and patient population.”
The NHSA comprises eight research intensive universities, eight NHS teaching hospitals and four academic health science networks, as well as a 15 million population, all across the North of England.
“This is the latest sign of the deepening innovation links between our two countries. The agreement will further enable British researchers and patients to have access to the latest technology from Israel,” stated the ambassador to Israel — David Quarrey. “And we hope even more Israeli medical companies will now look to the UK as a destination for their growth.”
Under the terms of the agreement, the NHSA will provide support to Israeli companies identified by the UKITH, enabling them to access the UK clinical research environment in the region. Through this support, these companies will be able to build a business case for their technology when coming into the UK market, ultimately helping them to engage with health research professionals, health economic teams and clinical expertise for the development and validation of the technology in a NHS health system.
