Omnicell has acquired and fully integrated Mach4 Pharma Systems, a company that develops and produces automated drug dispensing systems
Since the integration, Omnicell has been awarded the tender for robotic dispensing systems at two hospitals; University College London Hospitals (UCLH) and Bedford Hospital.
Omnicell said that robotic dispensing solution that both hospitals have opted for is the only medication dispensing solution in the UK to combine channel picking, chaotic storage and arm picking in the same system.
The system also releases pharmacy time so it can be better spent on face to face patient care and medicine optimisation, according to the company.
Paul O’Hanlon, Omnicell managing director for UK and Ireland, said: “For over 20 years, the mission of Omnicell has been to help improve patient care and with the Mach4 products now within our portfolio, we are taking this mission even further.
“With the robotics range providing safer, quicker and more efficient dispensing and improved inventory control, more time is freed up for direct patient care.
“We are really proud to announce two new business tender awards with UCLH and Bedford Hospital and we hope to continue to provide hospital pharmacies with new levels of speed and efficiency savings as our robotics are installed in further Trusts.”
